Welcome to Southern Star Great Danes

I bought my first Great Dane several years ago and fell in love with this gentle, affectionate breed.  They are truly “people dogs” who love to touch.  I had a huge gorgeous black male, but also wanted a Harlequin.

When I became serious about breeding a quality dog, I searched for a distinguished bloodline that boasted not only champions, but true companions.  Fleckenhaus Southern Star (my “Dixie”) was exactly what I desired – a beautiful Harlequin with a sweet disposition.  She is wonderfully patient with my rough and tumble toddler grandsons and granddaughter.  Who could ask for more?

I added a young male dog - Squire - to Southern Star Great Danes in March 2007 from the championship kennel Graysondanes in Canada.  He is currently being trained by Steve Arnold of Summit View Farms in Midlothian, Texas and will be seen on the show circuit starting in Houston, Texas in July, 2007.

My love for this breed and for Dixie is what encouraged me to start this website.
